Great Jobs For Teens

You may have heard that due to a tough job market, many jobs once reserved for enterprising high schoolers’ are being filled by college students and even graduates. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any opportunities for teenagers. According to EMSI data, here are ten growing jobs with a significant teen presence.

  1. Lifeguards, ski patrol and other recreational protective service workers monitor recreational areas — such as pools, beaches or ski slopes — to provide assistance and protection to participants.

  1. Hosts and hostesses (restaurant, lounge and coffee shop) greet customers and manage reservation and waiting lists. They may assign guests to tables suitable for the size of their group, escort patrons to their seats and provide menus. They also take reservations over the phone, arrange parties and help with other customer requests.

  1. Counter attendants (cafeteria, food concession and coffee shop) take orders and serve food over a counter in snack bars, cafeterias, movie theaters and coffee shops. They fill cups with coffee, soda and other beverages, and may prepare fountain specialties, such as milkshakes and ice cream sundaes.
